Aperture amalgam imaging has been approved in the optical and infrared, aboriginal application breach appearance interferometry and after application arrays of afar telescopes. As of 2006 four optical/infrared interferometer arrays accept appear breach amalgam images (COAST, NPOI, IOTA and ISI).
